I can’t DL any of the past 10 ep’s; this has been an issue for awhile. Anyone know where I can go besides itunes?

I don’t know why, but this is the only item off of itunes that takes 10+ minutes to download.  Currently, it’s running about 25 minutes for the last to shows.
I download audiobooks larger than these files in less than 2 minutes.

this is an issue with our server/host that has been ongoing. itunes, podcast pickle, your feed reader, whatevs, has nothing to do with it.

jonathan and i are working to find a solution and hope to be moving the show files to a server with faster pipes soon.

if you are downloading through itunes and experiencing problems, please try to hit the ‘Get’ button next to the grayed-out show. i’ve been able to get it going after a couple of tries. also, keep in mind that the show usually drops on mondays or tuesdays when traffic on the site also sees its peaks. if you are getting errors at that time, try re-downloading it later in the week using the technique described above. this may not be ideal, but for now you can at least still get the show until we resolve our conflicts.

in fact, i just got the ep to download right now.
so i dont know why none of the last 10 weeks arent coming down for you…
have you tried downloading them since they were the current ep?

Thank you for replying.  I have my shows, it’s just speed I’m refering.  I got your message about servers and understand that is the issue.  Thank you for working on the IT issues and the show is worth so-mo!

Have you tried Mevio? They offer free hosting for podcasts and if your show is big they’ll get you sponsors.

I’ll go on record saying fuck Mevio.  From the Member Agreement:

1.  Anyone can use your shit for any reason in any way.
2.  Mevio can use your shit forever, regardless of if you leave.
3.  If Mevio uses your shit, we’ll try to credit you.
4.  If you post content, Mevio can remove it at their whim.
5.  Mevio can use your content for promotion, but you can’t use Mevio for your promotion.
Etc… 

I say no.  If Jah and Seth want to retain control, go with Libsyn or purchase their own hosting/streaming solution.

Didn’t know that Mevio sucked so much… fuck Mevio.

When the eps are fresh (monday and sometimes tuesday) the servers are busy, I had to hit “get” like 50 times yesterday before one attempt finally went through. Keep on trying!

Possible idea of setting up a torrent for the file so that way there is another way to get the episode without having to worry about server issues.  I am not saying this would be the only way and it would let the listeners contribute to help spreading UYD episodes around.

ive kicked that idea around, but then it negates the whole feed service. 99.999999% of subscribers to this show go through itunes (Mac & Win). its the hand that feeds, like it or not. no pun intended. our stats and rankings all come via itunes. so we need to keep the show in an atmosphere that it plays in…

I don’t know how many listeners this show has, but I’d donate $2 through Paypal or whatever to pay for a faster server. I think most people would.
