Everything’s probably going to be fine though. Because it’s not like children ever grow up to become the adults that make up society. No, this is fine. I’m not worried. This isn’t a harbinger of the state of the world in the coming years. Tea?

If you want a silver lining, the schools will be teaching fewer kids creationism, and those same kids will be experiencing high-level Darwainism on a daily basis.  They will be trapping animals for food and pelts, building shelters, roaming the countryside in search of fresh water, and meth, they will be doing a lot of meth.

It is time for you to evolve Missouri!

This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

Stop eating my biomass, jerk.

Aaaaand hey. Another one. Seems like a reasonable preventative action, right?

“A Feb. 5 memo to students laid out the criteria for bringing a date to the prom, and one requirement was that the person must be of the opposite sex. “

Hey Mississippi, try doing the opposite of that next time.

That whole story just makes me so fucking angry. Not only could the girl and her girlfriend not go to prom together but now they can’t go to prom at all and neither can ANYONE ELSE. That should totally foster some understanding and support from the rest of the student body/town. It’s like the school board put their heads together and came up with the one thing that could make said girl even more marginalized but cloaked it under the guise of, “Hey, we’re canceling prom for everybody so it’s wicked fair.”

Edit:

The ACLU is going all Jonathan Lee Riches on the school: http://us.cnn.com/2010/LIVING/03/11/mississippi.prom.suit/index.html

More Pixar, less bukkake.

If you replace the word prom with porn you get some interesting results.

”“A lot of people said that was going to happen, but I said, they had already spent too much money on the porn” to cancel it, she said. “I’m just trying to get done what I originally wanted done. Now, we’re having to fight just to have a porn.”“

must be getting dyslexic.

Let the kids have their fun school dance for Christ’s sake! Come on!

I was just on a public transit device with a dozen preschool children on their way back from a field trip. The woman standing in front of me smiled at one little girl and asked her where they went.

They went to Applebee’s.

I’m sad now.

But I want it to taste delicious. I’m not an asshole.

well… we went to a skating rink for a field trip, then to a buffet style restaurant when I was a kid, once a year, for fun. Does that indicate that our school systems are falling apart? I know it’s not the Metropolitan Museum of Natural History, but come on.

an aside:
I have good memories of that skating rink. Asking girls to skate, being rejected, asking better girls, skating with them. Playing Mortal Kombat and wondering if the dozen or so Vietnamese “gang members” standing in the Korner knew real finishing moves. They didn’t.

These were three and four year old children, though. Not grade school kids.
