Let me preface this by saying that I love the show.  I’ve been listening for a little over a month now and have gone back through old episodes while I wait for the new one to debut.  While listening to your show, I’ve come across a couple small problems.

1. Normalization.

There are times when I have to turn my car radio’s volume very high to listen to the show when you two start talking very softly. Then, just a moment later, someone will say something in their normal speaking voice and scare the shit outta me.

2. Art.

The itunes subscription xml is missing the album art. As someone who is very anal with his music library having all the artwork embedded and all the tags properly filled out, this podcast is a giant blank square on my road to OCD nirvana.

this is what the podcast image used to be. didnt really realize jonathan axed it. i dont think he likes it too much.

wait, you actually owned a zune? and somebody wanted it bad enough to steal it? wow…

I use the diagonal UhhYeahDude in red with “Hollywood” in the center.
Media Monkey is doing a better job for me than iTunes in this area also.

The Hair banner would make a pretty good album art.

Yeah the normalization issue is sometimes a problem for me, too, and I also listen in my car.  It actually happened to me today, listening to episode 131 - Seth sneezed right in the effing microphone and it scared the shit out of me.  But it’s usually not that big of a problem.

Putting a simple image that relates to one of the topics in the show would be kind of cool. That way you wouldn’t understand the chosen image until after listening to the show. Meh?

Jonathan has tried the image thing before but for some reason the images never stayed on his file when he uploaded them to itunes.  He looked for answers, but no one knew how to do it.  Maybe someone on these new forums has good instructions on how to make the image stick?

Also, I’ve listened to every episode at work, with headphones on, and I never seem to have any audio problems.  Maybe it’s a speaker thing.

They’ve pretty much had the volume right since epie 5.

I always have to turn the volume up to listen as opposed to like normal radio, but it never gets too loud and I don’t recall getting scared.

the latter video podcasts they did, without handheld mics, had the most uniform audio.  Due to the fact that the mic was in a fixed position, at a fixed distance from their face.
Let’s face it though, compressors, limiters, EQs, these things can cost a lot of money (granted most sequencers have these built in).
Post production can turn something enjoyable into a fucking JOB, which would probably affect the show in a negative way.  I think part of the fun of podcasting is that it is quick and easy.  and raw
